“Does Medicare cover acupuncture?”

Medicare typically doesn't cover acupuncture services. However some Medicare Advantage plans do cover acupuncture, so if you do want to function covered as part of your plan make sure to read the fine print of whichever Medicare Advantage plan that you're choosing.

Also read the fine print in terms of network. Not all acupuncturists are in the Medicare Advantage plans’ network. Some plans will allow you to go out of network and they will just pay the acupuncture as a flat dollar amount or percentage and you are responsible for the rest. Other plans will only allow you to go see network acupuncturists.

Short answer is Medicare itself will not cover acupuncture, but some of Medicare Advantage plans will.
